Moldes Colectivos, which directly translates to Collective Molds in English, is a piece that deals with control and freedom, concepts that were also an important part of the creative process for this body of work. By forcing myself to create different lines and shapes thinking of these concepts I used this body of work to seek acknowledgment of our struggle with society but also an inevitable acceptance. These pieces each represent a unique individual struggle that every human being deals with, existing according to society's rules, fitting inside a given box or shape. The contrast between very geometric shapes and a very loose gesture is my way to express this social relation. The raw self is constantly persuaded by society's barriers and physical borders. Sometimes we are able to escape from barriers and occasionally fight against it to stay enclosed. By putting all these 24 pieces together, my goal is to reflect this shared struggle we are dealing with. Each piece is unique in terms of shape and color representing different beings, but they are all united by a limited rectangular shape that encapsulates their freedom.
